Responsibilities

Design, configure, and deploy Cisco networking solutions, including switches, routers, and firewalls, ensuring optimal performance for mission-critical applications.

Proactively monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions. Utilize tools for network analysis and diagnostics to resolve problems swiftly.

Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the network infrastructure. Regularly assess and update security protocols and practices to safeguard sensitive data and voice communications.

Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents. Prepare reports on network performance, incidents, and recommended improvements.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and initiatives. Provide technical support and guidance to junior network staff as needed.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards pertaining to public safety communications. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies.

Conduct training sessions for team members on network operations, troubleshooting techniques, and security protocols.

Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong emphasis on Cisco environments.

Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements.

In-depth knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

Proficient in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS).

Experience with VoIP technologies and QoS implementations.

Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).

Extensive knowledge with Cisco line of network equipment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

CCNP certification is required.

Minimum of Secret eligibility.

Preferred

Experience in a 9-1-1 or public safety setting is highly desirable.

Additional vendor network equipment (Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, etc.) experience a plus.

Additional certifications (CCIE, CISSP, etc.) are a plus.
