Responsibilities
Recommend and perform technical activities to ensure Anoka County’s network infrastructure is efficient and secure including LANs, WANs, wireless networks, data centers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption technologies, and remote access solutions.
Participate in the development of strategies to assess the life-cycle of the network infrastructure for Anoka County’s near and long-term technology needs.
Recommend and perform network-related tasks for planned and unplanned outages.
Recommend architectural designs, and implement standardized policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration and disaster recovery.
Monitor network performance and usage to ensure optimal utilization and actively resolve issues.
Anticipate and mitigate potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.
Recommend and perform configuration changes to the network environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Maintain vendor and contractor relationships by negotiating agreements, ensuring design meets Anoka County’s objectives, and escalating the most complex issues.
Act as primary network field agent for physical equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
Act as a point of escalation and resolve complex network problems, create reports, and ensure optimal utilization of the products.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical hardware and software.

Required
Bachelor’s degree and at least four years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience
In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
Successfully pass driver’s license background check
Successfully pass a BCA background check
Preferred
Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or related field.
One year of job-related experience managing Next Generation enterprise firewalls.
Possess industry related certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or PCNSA.
Experience with Cisco products, protocols, and concepts including routers, switches, wireless, datacenter network solutions and Unified Communications.
Experience with Palo Alto Networks products including Next Generation Firewalls, Panorama and Cortex Data Lake.
Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, DCI, NAT, QoS, VPN, IPSEC, VoIP, SSL/TLS, and copper and fiber cabling standards.
Knowledge of diagnostic tools and methodologies for troubleshooting network issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
Ability to apply effective analytical methods to existing and new applications.
