Responsibilities
Design for manufacturability reviews, process selection and definition, supplier assessment and recommendation, failure analysis, weld and braze inspection, welding and brazing procedure development, training of welders/brazers and weld/braze inspectors, supplier weld and braze process development, and administration of the weld/braze certification program.
Supporting manufacturing operations by performing technical assessments, implementing process and design refinements, and monitoring and improving the quality of welded and brazed products.
Developing, working with, and approving welding and brazing processes for in-house (make) capabilities as well as at Supplier (buy) partners. This position would require monthly travel to international locations.
Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and other technical material and then translating into practical procedural instructions.

Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and a minimum 10 year prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum years’ experience.
Experience in welding and brazing procedure development and/or testing, welder and/or welding operator/brazer and brazing operator training and certifications, welding and/ brazing fabrication problem solving and weld/braze inspection.
Experience using AWS QC-1, IIW Certification, or equivalent
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred
Experience as a technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing and quality organizations
Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Welding Specifications
Working knowledge of European (ISO) Welding Specifications
Desire and ability to work as a team member is essential.
AWS QC-1 Certified Welding Inspector
Testing laboratory skills including sectioning, metallography, fracture analysis, hardness testing, etc.
Non-destructive Testing certifications
Experience with aluminum, structural steel, stainless steel, titanium, and nickel alloys used in welding and brazing fabrications.
Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma and statistical techniques.
