Responsibilities

Influence design characteristics for improved manufacturability, efficiency and reliability

Maintain and improve existing manufacturing processes

Develop assembly concepts, design, test, and deploy tooling and automation

Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturers for prototype development and high-volume factory automation

Document assembly processes, spare parts lists, and maintenance plans

Define process steps, material handling, and process control needs

Work on Product/Process DFMs, FMEAs, and risk assessment activities

Evaluate safety and occupational health for processes

Propose and implement cost reduction activities for assembly processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from a four-year university with 5+ years related experience and/or training within the connector industry, preferred.

Basic Knowledge with the following processes: Progressive stamping and Lead-frame Slugout, Injection molding and Insert molding, Lead-frame Over-molding, Small component handling and assembly, Terminal plating, New product development

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical product drawings, interpret technical procedures, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Ability to solve practical and technical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Should have knowledge and skills using: Proficient with solid modeling tools (Creo, Solid Works, AutoCAD), Have experience with automation, PLCs, Machine Vision and electrical controls, Project Management Experience, Project Management software (MS Project), Spreadsheet software (Excel), Presentation software (PowerPoint)

Ability to communicate and relate with assembly process engineers in each region of the world.

Ability to provide technical design and process information relating to product manufacturability, process and design costs, process risk assessment and product capability assessment.

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot equipment and determine root causes for assembly issues.
