Responsibilities
Individuals in this position are responsible for planning, organizing, and performing detailed process design with capability to manage engineering activities.
Research applicable industry standards, prepare and critique engineering studies, analysis of systems, preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
Develop and review engineering specifications and project cost estimates.
Direct and review work of project design team, check progress of work and alert managers to change of scope and additional services.
Coordinate all aspects of project document completion.
Direct CAD designers for the preparation of construction drawings.
Possess ability to interpret applicable codes.
Independently work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required.
Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines.

Required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related engineering degree.
At least eight years of design experience creating construction documents for industrial, power, oil & gas, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food & beverage facilities with significant expertise in at least one of the core industries served by TAI.
Experience preparing, reviewing and approving PFD’s, P&ID’s, piping orthographic and isometric drawings, bill of materials, equipment and piping specifications.
Working knowledge of manual and automatic valve types and application.
Working knowledge of control valve and flow meter sizing and selection.
Thorough understanding of process controls.
Thorough understanding of piping flexibility and stress analysis.
Working knowledge of ASME BPVC, Division 1.
Working knowledge of piping codes - ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.5 and B31.8.
Working knowledge of NFPA fire codes (NFPA 30 mandatory).
Working knowledge of pressure drop calculations for incompressible and compressible fluids.
Working knowledge of equipment and piping specifications, sizing pressure relief devices, sizing centrifugal and PD pumps and other process equipment.
Preferred
Thorough understanding of piping flexibility and stress analysis is preferred.
API standards – 521, 620, 650, 2000 preferred.
