Responsibilities
Contribute to developing a strategy to interrogate the interplay of microglia, neurons, and astrocytes in the context of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.
Identify and prosecute the evaluation of novel therapeutic approaches to treat neurodegenerative diseases.
Establish in vitro neuronal cell models to identify and evaluate targets using genetic and pharmacological approaches.
Employ a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as RNA/protein expression analysis, biochemical assays, flow cytometry, and high content/live cell imaging.
Define approaches to optimize and troubleshoot experimental conditions, striving for accurate modeling of the CNS environment.
Independently design and execute experiments, and interpret and track results. This includes being up to date on relevant literature and regular maintenance of electronic notebooks.

Required
PhD in Biology, Neuroinflammation, Neuroscience or other related discipline or MS with 7+ years of relevant molecular and cellular biology experience.
Experience in and working knowledge of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration.
Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to formulate next steps, provide recommendations, and enable data-driven decisions with a high level of autonomy.
Preferred
Hands-on experience with culturing CNS cell types, including immortalized, primary, and iPSC-derived cells.
Expertise in analyzing and presenting various omics datasets
Experience with gene editing technologies, including CRISPR.
Knowledge of in vivo models of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration to inform in vitro to in vivo translation of target biology.
Experience in exploring macular degeneration and retinal culture systems
Experience in RNA therapies and technologies
Preclinical pharmacology experience across diverse therapeutic modalities.
Publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
Interest in educating and training other scientists as part of matrixed teams.
