Responsibilities
Supports Chemonics’ Senior Climate Finance Advisor in research, technical analysis, and stakeholder and partner interactions and relationship building
Research: Compiles documentation and provides written summaries and analyses on topics including: - Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) carbon credit projects, Paris Agreement Article 6 processes, and jurisdictional REDD+ initiatives - International integrity initiatives - Carbon project investors and credit purchasers - USAID, DFC, FCDO, WB and other relevant DFI and donor projects and programs
Technical Analysis: Contributes to the design of nature-based carbon projects, from pre-feasibility assessments, scoping, partner due diligence, and activity design, to VCU output and financial analysis and PDD drafting. Digests and synthesizes complicated information, such as proposed project crediting scenarios and financial data and communicates that information in layman’s terms. Contributes to Chemonics’ thought leadership on climate and carbon finance topics through research and writing/contributions to blogs, op-eds, articles, and other forms of public-facing and internal media.
Outreach: Participates in activities to build a strong knowledge culture at Chemonics by developing technical briefs, training decks, and other knowledge sharing content and disseminating it through networks and knowledge management systems. Preparation of agendas and meeting minutes, PowerPoint presentation drafting, file organization (SharePoint), and other support to ensure key points are communicated and captured from internal and external meetings. Presentation of research, project activities and approaches.
Other support: Supports travel planning by identifying in-country organizations and key informants, preparing draft itineraries and meeting schedules, and compiling notes and other documentation from foreign travel assignments.
Ensures that all work products are provided on time and are of high quality.

Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required
Experience working on the design, implementation, and/or financing of nature-based carbon projects
Experience conducting detailed financial analysis
Understanding of the international ecosystem of carbon markets
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively both orally and in writing, and deliver presentations, training, and facilitate meetings effectively
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
Fluent English required
Preferred
Master’s degree in a relevant field relating to climate change, sustainable development, or development assistance etc.
Knowledge of USAID, other Federal agency regulations and policies preferred
Fluency in Spanish preferred
Other language proficiencies appreciated
