Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases (2012 and above), ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform database tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal database performance and availability.
Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans for SQL Server environments.
Implement, manage, and troubleshoot High Availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database design and provide database support for application deployments.
Perform database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
Monitor and optimize server performance, storage, and capacity planning to ensure scalability.
Manage database security, including user access, permissions, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Automate routine tasks, such as backups and monitoring, using SQL Server Agent or PowerShell scripts.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs and team members.
Maintain comprehensive documentation on database configurations, changes, and performance improvements.
Respond to and resolve escalated database issues, including performance, security, and availability problems.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in SQL Server database administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2012 or higher).
Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
Hands-on experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions (Always On, SQL Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication).
Experience in cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS).
Experience with database backup and restore strategies, as well as encryption and security best practices.
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, SQL scripts) for automation and monitoring.
Experience with database monitoring and management tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate, Datadog, SolarWinds).
Experience in ITIL practices and service management frameworks.
Required Security clearance.
Preferred
Federal Experience is a plus.
