Responsibilities

Provide others with an understanding of a variety of legal principles that have a major impact on energy programs affecting Tribal Nations and governments.
Collaborate with colleagues in other Departmental elements on Tribal activities related to energy project financing and revenue generation.
Participate in meetings, conferences, hearings and briefings regarding treaties, legal statues, laws and decisions that impact energy projects on Tribal lands, reservations, and Sacred land.
Lead efforts to justify or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues that may affect the Tribes or Tribal communities, including providing recommendations based on Tribal concerns or input that may affect major programs or significantly change the scope of programmatic activities.

Required

You must be a United States Citizen.
This employer participates in the e-Verify program.

This position may be covered by a bargaining unit. Bargaining unit will vary by departmental element, grade, and/or location.
If selected, you will be required to sign a remote work agreement after entry into the position that details remote working conditions and expectations for the position. Work may only be performed from a location in the U.S.
Occasional travel may be required.
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Providing support to Tribal representatives regarding energy policy, guidance, statutes and law; Engaging with tribal governments to resolve energy policy or financing/revenue issues that impact Tribal reservations, treaty rights, or other federally recognized or reserved rights; Providing recommendations to U.S. government officials on aspects of energy issues, projects and activities that impact Tribal reservations, land and government.
Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
