Responsibilities
Designing and implementing new or existing complex software application programs and reports according to project software standards and conventions and reviewing the work of others.
Ensuring automated data feeds and system interfaces are working as intended.
Proposing technical solutions to automate manual processes.
Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to system interfaces.
Performing and overseeing commercial and developed software upgrades in accordance with software quality procedures.
Assisting with the generation of metrics and/or reports.
Regularly interfacing with internal application power users to identify emergent issues.
Supporting Continuous Improvement efforts intended to improve the quality of existing software.
Designing and implementing new or existing standard software application programs and reports according to project software standards and conventions.
Evaluation, originality or ingenuity is desired.
Performing routine commercial and developed software upgrades in accordance with software quality procedures.
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work.
The engineer assigned to this position will be assigned to small projects or a phase of a larger project and will carry out routine and semi-routine tasks.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or an equivalent Information technology field.
Minimum of 5 years’ of professional experience preferably in programming web-based software applications and designing/managing Oracle databases.
Technical writing skills required.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
Preferred
Web development experience.
Experience in developing with .NET, PL/SQL, and XML.
Experience with software development in an engineering environment.
Experience with software quality for nuclear grade software.
Familiarity with administering SmartPlant® design applications or other engineering design applications.
Familiarity with all aspects of SmartPlant® Foundation including configuration, schema creation, and data structures.
Knowledge of software quality engineering principles for the management, design, and testing of software desired, but not required.
Programming experience with Visual Basic, C++, and/or C#, Asp.net, Javascript, CSS desired, but not required.
Knowledge of Windows Server Management / IIS maintenance is desired, but not required.
