Responsibilities

Ship regularly and iteratively, writing testable, readable, and maintainable code.

Participate in scaling efforts and possibly lead them.

Participate early in the product development process, review research about clients and learners, and contribute to product strategy and roadmap.

Collaborate with Engineering Team Members to monitor and analyze operational performance trends.

Work with product, design, and support teams to ensure users derive maximum value from the products built.

Fix bugs and performance issues.

Build and ship high-quality software products by offering technical solutions to product requirements.

Focus on backend technologies like Python and to a lesser extent PHP.

Architect systems of significant user scale, considering performance, security, and privacy.

Continually improve and share knowledge with teammates through code reviews, technology presentations, and articles.

Dig into unfamiliar areas and work with ambiguity by understanding business needs and guiding the team forward.

Required

5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.

Experience with both Python and Django.

Experience with Terraform.

Experience with SQL.

Experience with one or more of the following programming languages/frameworks: React, PHP, or Typescript.

Preferred

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

Excellent written communication skills, this is a team that works via written words, so not it’s just an ability to write, but a desire to drive change via writing.
