Responsibilities
Lead multiple agile product delivery teams of software engineers and managers that develop and support the application systems that enable core insurance services
Work closely with organizational leaders to understand the service requirements of customers and key stakeholders and deliver technology strategies and solutions to enable business outcomes
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, value, delivery, timeliness, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures
Demonstrate a broad understanding of technology and trends from multiple perspectives including software engineering, architecture, infrastructure, quality assurance, and business delivery model to develop effective technology strategies
Develop team expertise and complete succession planning, including identifying talent and implementing development plans for critical leadership and individual contributor positions
Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs, and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
Work closely with other technology leaders to foster an organizational environment of collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion
Design, implement, and communicate effective organizational structure for assigned area or responsibility
Plan and present technology applications strategy to business and executive leadership
Represent IT when working with company agents, insureds, vendors, and regulatory agencies on technology-related topics
Drive monthly operational metrics and key performance indicators for assigned organization to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and effective data-driven decision

Required
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or related field, such as information systems or equivalent relevant experience
Ten years of experience in progressively responsible roles in IT, including at least four years of experience leading software engineering teams, or equivalent experience
Experience with core system platform management
Property and casualty insurance experience
Exceptional knowledge of programming languages for applicable systems
Excellent problem-solving abilities to analyze complex situations
Advanced attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills
Excellent ability to advise, partner, influence and effectively consult with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, executives, and project owners
Ability to work in coordination with others to accomplish departmental and company objectives through proper delegation
Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify problems and implement effective solutions
Strong knowledge of insurance principles
Advanced leadership and customer service skills
Advanced knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and ways to improve them
Superior human relations skills
Ability to explore new and different processes, services, technologies, and partnerships to enhance EMC’s business
Preferred
Prior experience with cloud technologies like AWS
