Responsibilities

Maintain delinquencies in accordance with peer performance and the risk profile of the credit union.
Maintain effective communication with customers in an attempt to resolve poor credit performance.
Pursue the recovery of charge-off loans.
Document all activity taken to collect non-performing loans or assets.
Participate in regular assessments of the credit union's asset quality, including the review of classified loans, as well as those assets which should be charged off.
Assist third party service providers who are hired to pursue the collection of non-performing loans and assets.
Attend internal and external training programs related to collections.
Participate in the training of new collectors.
Perform other collection-related tasks, as assigned or requested.

Required

High school education with 5-7 years of related collections experience.
Proficient knowledge of federal and state law related to the collection of nonperforming assets.
Understanding of the regulatory process regarding collateral repossession, foreclosures, and bankruptcy proceedings.
Work independently on assigned projects after receiving initial direction from supervisor.
Prioritize multiple tasks, focusing efforts on those nonperforming assets that pose the greatest risk to the financial institution.
Effectively communicate through written and oral skills.
Exercise flexibility and innovativeness to accomplish the goals of the Collections Department.
