Responsibilities

Work within an interdisciplinary team to develop diagnostic products using tumor genomic DNA and RNA sequencing.
Lead the development of algorithms and computational methods for identifying clinically-relevant alterations in tumor DNA and RNA.
Enhance and optimize existing methods for improved assay capabilities and technical robustness.
Perform collaborative software development and validation efforts.
Process, analyze, and interpret high volumes of data for method development and validation.
Incorporate new findings of cancer biology and diagnostics into computational pipelines.
Monitor and evaluate analytical aspects of new technologies.
Present scientific and technical data clearly to colleagues.
Work independently, prepare project schedules, and represent the computational biology group in projects.
Mentor junior colleagues, collaborate with project teams, and perform other assigned duties.

Required

Master's Degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
3+ years working in NGS based diagnostics or research
Academic or professional study/work with molecular biology and/or genomics
Familiar with one or more of the following programming and scripting languages: Python, Java, R, or C++

Preferred

Strong understanding of molecular biology and genomics
Experience contributing to a complex production analytical system
Experience developing algorithms for analysis of biological data
Experience with next-generation (NGS) sequencing data
Experience in cancer research, including a working understanding of computational approaches for cancer genome analysis
Experience leading collaborative projects
Excellent teamwork, time management, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment
Demonstrated ability to present data to a multidisciplinary audience in a clear and cohesive manner
Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy
