Responsibilities

Analyze and understand trends in hospital, professional, and drug claims/utilization, membership/demographics, and financial variances to budget. Conduct various ad-hoc analyses as needed.
Maintain controls around models and other work products, ensuring quality and timely completion of deliverables.
Support coordination of quarterly close activities and collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and finalize valuation methodologies.
Prepare and analyze results and forecasts, perform trend monitoring, and conduct risk valuation calculations.
Develop efficient and transparent queries to obtain relevant data with minimal oversight.
Provide recommendations to management across teams within the actuarial department.
Ensure consistency in all work, perform reasonability checks based on industry knowledge, and develop analyses for special projects.
Offer technical and analytical support to both the Actuarial department and internal partners.
Proactively take on additional tasks as needed by the team and perform duties as directed or required.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related finance/business degree.
Successful completion of at least 2 actuarial exams.
4-6+ years of relevant professional experience, with 1-2+ years in health insurance actuarial work, preferably in managed care.
Commitment to making progress toward actuarial credentials by sitting for a minimum of one exam per year and achieving a combined score of 5 over two consecutive sittings. If this progress is not met, the role may transition to a non-Actuarial position.
Strong understanding of actuarial principles, with excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in presentation.
Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of SQL, R, Python, or similar programming languages.
Proficiency in Excel, data extraction, simulations, and automation.
Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies.
