Responsibilities

Performing in situ assays on tissue sections on microscope glass slides

High throughput fluorescent microscopy imaging of processed tissue samples, and image data pre-processing

Library preparation workflows

Participating in troubleshooting of assays and microscope instruments

Conducting optimization studies of protocols for specific tissue samples

Delivering processed image data and working closely with computational biologists for image data analysis

Maintaining relevant documentation for record keeping related to projects

Required

MSc, or equivalent, in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field

Experience with molecular biology techniques including immunostaining and/or in situ hybridization techniques (e.g. FISH, RNAscope, in situ hybridization)

A proven track-record of using and optimizing and troubleshooting molecular biology protocols

Light and fluorescent microscopy experience (confocal or standard epi-fluorescence)

Knowledge and troubleshooting experience with liquid handling or automated systems (e.g. Tecan, Hamilton)

Preferred

Tissue handling experience (fresh frozen, FFPE, cryosectioning, antigen retrieval, etc.)

Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and structure your work

Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication

Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment

Basic coding skills

Experience with image analysis using relevant SW (e.g. CellProfiler, ImageJ)

Familiarity with NGS library preparation workflows

Work experience from similar positions in academia, industry or a service provider/core facility
