Staff Accountant – FA/Leases

Responsibilities
Maintain a detailed record of all fixed assets, including property, equipment, and other tangible assets.
Record and classify acquisitions, disposals, and transfers of fixed assets in compliance with company policies and/or GAAP.
Monitor and update the useful lives and depreciation methods of fixed assets.
Conduct physical asset counts and reconcile them with the financial records regularly.
Perform periodic impairment assessments in accordance with GAAP and evaluate the recoverability of assets.
Record lease agreements and ensure they comply with ASC 842 standards.
Calculate and record lease liabilities and assets on the balance sheet.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of lease payments, including principal, interest, and other expenses.
Assist in lease negotiations to ensure compliance with ASC 842, including the identification and classification of leases.
Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
Collaborate with the financial reporting team to provide necessary data and support for external financial audits.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure consistent compliance with accounting standards.
Continuously identify and implement process improvements related to fixed asset and lease accounting procedures.
Streamline data collection and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of all fixed asset and lease transactions, agreements, and correspondence.
Ensure all records are easily accessible and organized for internal and external audit purposes.
Monitor compliance with ASC 842, ASC 360, and other relevant accounting standards.
Collaborate with other departments, including Real Estate & Growth Strategy and Operations, to ensure effective communication and coordination of financial activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and CFO.

Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
3-5 years of experience in fixed assets and/or leases
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability work effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook
Experience with fixed asset software and general ledger systems
Highly detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and proactive
Preferred
CPA or CFA certification
Experience working within Sage Intacct and AssetEdge
Ability to utilize critical thinking to solve complex and detailed problems through resolution
Ability to see over the project landscape and ask the right questions with the ability to translate ideas and needs into tangible actions with measurable results
Demonstrate growth mindset, flexibility, and adaptability to change
Strong work ethic and be able to meet critical deadlines
