Responsibilities

Drafting legal documents such as agency affirmations, affidavits, and other filings using standard legal techniques and practices.

Ensuring legal documents align with agency objectives and meet legal requirements.

Interpreting and applying laws and regulations that govern child welfare, early care, and education in New York City, particularly in the context of the specific programs managed (e.g., Close to Home, Limited Secure Placement, Detention, etc.).

Working closely with the New York City Law Department and outside counsel on various legal matters, especially in relation to defending against lawsuits.

Assisting with the production and management of agency records for litigation purposes.

Acting as a liaison concerning employee-related matters, land use, and litigation updates.

Providing legal advice to leadership on both policy and programmatic issues related to ongoing and new initiatives.

Supporting efforts in legal compliance, especially in the areas of child welfare and youth justice.
