Responsibilities

Represent tenants in landlord-tenant litigation, including eviction defense, rent disputes, housing code violations, and tenant organizing efforts.

Provide legal advice and counseling to tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities under New York State and NYC housing laws.

Appear in Bronx Housing Court for hearings, motions, and trials.

Draft legal documents, including motions, complaints, settlement agreements, and court filings.

Negotiate favorable settlements and work towards resolving cases efficiently.

Advocate for clients in administrative hearings or other government proceedings related to housing issues.

Stay informed of changes in housing law and legal trends affecting tenant rights in New York City.

Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, social workers, and community partners to offer holistic legal assistance.

Participate in outreach and education efforts to inform the public about tenant rights and legal resources available.
