Responsibilities

Conduct site inspection to monitor progress and conformance to specs and procedures
Design portions of a project
Make calculations using engineering formulas and skills
Instruct drafters on reducing designs into completed drawings
Lead concrete and rebar inspection testing
Perform research and write reports
Prepare samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing
Use computer programs to solve engineering problems
Plan and implement engineering programs per customer requirements
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
Provide reports on project milestones and adjust schedules accordingly
Control expenditures within project budget limitations
Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing
Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables and design documents
Review product design for compliance with engineering principles and standards
Prepare project reports
Provide status and progress reports to customers and management
Classify soils according to standard types
Apply geological knowledge to engineering problems in construction projects
Prepare geologic reports, interpret research data, and recommend further study or action
Conduct or participate in environmental studies and prepare environmental reports
Direct drilling of exploratory borings and wells
Oversee installation of monitoring wells
Collect soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis
Determine groundwater flow direction based on data review
Determine contamination in soil and groundwater at environmental sites
Participate in decision making on research priorities and project feasibility
Lead junior staff and interns, provide guidance, and answer questions
Direct tasks of junior staff and interns as needed
Identify potential projects and promote company services
Travel 25% to 100% of the time

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 0 to 3 years of Site Civil, Geotechnical or Environmental engineering experience. Previous Internship or construction experience is preferred.
Experience with inspection of compacted fills, footings, ground improvement, deep foundations, retaining walls, utilities, asphalt, concrete, sitework elements.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred or have the ability to become registered within six months.
Valid Driver’s License and possess reliable transportation to access job sites
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry.
Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Proficient or familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, MS Word, Excel, Adobe.
Position requires ability to use tools such a lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge.

Preferred

Previous Internship or construction experience is preferred.
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred or have the ability to become registered within six months.
ACI/NICET/NJ DCA Special Inspector and Nuclear Densometer certification a plus
