Responsibilities

Software Development (70-80% of time)

Lead implementations of new specifications; Write tests to cover new code or newly found issues

Implement consistent coding patterns with a focus on stability and security

Review Code

Raise the quality, stability, and security of code for the entire teams codebase

Provide guidance and meaningful feedback, understanding broader patterns and downstream/upstream dependencies

Build and Review Technical Specifications

Document trade-offs in solutions/implementations; Document critical implementation details/pipelines; Review and provide feedback on other specs

Deeply understands architecture of Ingestion pipelines and connected features

Architect end-to-end solution for a complex feature with loose problem definition

Support/On-Call Rotation

Respond to outage incidents

Help team to solve complex challenges

Required

Experience in software development with a focus on building high-scale distributed systems.

Proficiency in modern Java, with experience in Scala, Go, or Python.

Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar technologies in large scale solutions.

Solid foundation in building ingestion pipelines and experience with high volume streaming challenges.

Ability to identify relevant improvements/solutions in the literature and implement them in production.

Deep understanding of technology trade-offs and costs of different options to maintain system stability and scalability.

Experience in leading implementations of new specifications and writing tests to cover new code or issues.

Ability to review code and provide guidance and meaningful feedback to improve code quality, stability, and security.

Experience in building and reviewing technical specifications and documenting critical implementation details.

Ability to support on-call rotation and respond to outage incidents.

Preferred

Experience with AWS, GCP, or FedRAMP.

Familiarity with tools such as Redis, S3, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, and GitHub.

Interest in learning and using new paradigms like Rust.
