Responsibilities

Start-Up Advisory: Provide strategic guidance to start-up leadership, focusing on scaling operations, navigating early-stage challenges, and establishing a competitive market presence.

Market Positioning: Analyze the competitive landscape and provide insights on how to position the company as a leader in the pet-centric benefits niche.

Go-to-Market Strategy: Design effective go-to-market strategies for new services or benefits, helping us gain a strong foothold in our target markets.

Financial Modeling & Fundraising Support: Assist in financial modeling, budgeting, and potentially preparing for fundraising rounds as we grow.

Growth Planning: Provide insights and strategies to scale the company’s offerings as it grows, ensuring sustainability and adaptability to changing market demands.

Benefit Program Structuring: Design and optimize employee benefit packages centered on pet-related perks such as pet insurance, pet bereavement leave, and wellness programs.

Policy Development: Create clear, compliant policies and procedures for benefit offerings, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and values.

Compliance Oversight: Ensure all benefit programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, minimizing risk and maintaining ethical standards.

Required

Minimum 10+ years of proven experience as a business consultant specializing in advising early-stage start-up companies. Preferably in the HR / employee benefits space.

Solid understanding of employee benefits & structures and compliance requirements - specifically within the realm of pet care, insurance, and wellness.

Familiarity with start-up dynamics, including resource constraints, market positioning, and scaling challenges.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans for early-stage companies.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for managing internal and external stakeholders.

Financial acumen for budgeting, forecasting, and guiding on financial strategy.
