Responsibilities
Support the investigation of the viability and operational utility of a retrievable tethered buoy system.This includes supporting the following:
The evaluation and development of system design options,
The review of payloads
The refinement of concepts of operations
The outlining system benefit
The de-risking of critical aspects to inform submarine design, and determining ship fit options.
Support the tasking to define the design trade space analysis covering performance, reliability and vulnerability.
Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
Re-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements

Required
BS degree plus 5 years' experience (or HS+11, AA+8, MS+3, Phd+1)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Experience with Submarine Communication & Electromagnetic Systems (SCEMS) dependent upon degree.
Experience with equipment design principles
Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor)
Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts
Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materials
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
Familiarity military specifications for technical design
Preferred
Experience in Mechanical systems related to Submarine Towed Buoy Systems
Experience in engineering, design, fabrication, and testing of prototype equipment
Submarine Sail systems, machinery controls design development and test
Submarine Systems in the area of design and modifications of experience US Navy HM&E Submarine Communication and Electromagnetic Systems
Submarine Systems, including the Ohio Replacement Program, Virginia Class Program, Seawolf Class Program, Columbia Class Program Moored Training Ship (MTS) Program, Multi mission Platform Program (MMP), Advanced Seal Delivery System (ASDS), and Joint Multi mission Submersible (JMMS) Program
Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives
Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors
Shipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plus
Naval experience in engineering disciplines
