Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation and review of petitions, merits briefs, briefs in opposition, appendices, and other legal documents prepared by junior staffers.
Provide staff oversight in the preparation of briefs and other legal documents, using office and/or attorney files, library reference files, outside agency material, and computer databases.
Retrieve and analyze material found through the use of data searches.
Complete and/or participate in the drafting and review of employee performance standards and evaluations, recommends awards and promotions, and approves leave and telework docs.
Provide technical advice and guidance to the office attorney to assure continuity in the processing of appellate briefs.

Required

You must be a United States Citizen or National.
You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is providing leadership in researching, drafting, implementing, evaluating, and improving processes, policies and/or procedures in the submission of legal documents to the U.S. Supreme Court.
You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 12/05/2024.
