Sustainability Data Analyst

Responsibilities
You will play an important role as a member of the Office of Sustainability with an ability to work with students, staff, faculty, and main community members to support data tracking, collection, and analyzing (student events, waste management, engagement, change of energy usage, change of behaviors.)
You will build an internal, university-wide sustainability analytical strategy that meets university standards.
You will provide solutions to structured and unstructured data sets (sustainability course outcomes, etc.) and improve data gaps.
You will produce automated reports and communications necessary for partner transparency, operational performance, decision-making, and compliance. Reporting includes, but not limited to, AASHE's STARS reports and SIMAP carbon accounting.
You will develop and use reporting content to meet reporting needs (i.e., annual reports, quarterly reports, newsletters, marketing) and support funder requirements and future funding options.
You will coordinate collection, validation, and analysis of sustainability-related data from across the university.
You will effectively organize, clean, integrate and prepare large, varied datasets, collaborate on architecture of specialized datasets, computing environments, and communicate results.
You will collaborate with data science on the building of models to predict sustainability characteristics (GHG emissions, water use, material use, impacts of engagement strategies).
You will provide support and input to the data warehouse and semantic layer teams to ensure data is available for desired analysis.
You will build and maintain reporting solutions in excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.

Required
Two years of practical experience in a data-driven business environment
Degree(s): Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as business, mathematics, or sciences
Data management experience in the Microsoft SQL Stack
Project management experience relative to this area of work
Experience working with sustainability reporting/rating/ranking systems (e.g., AASHE STARS)
Experience using and implementing cloud-based reporting tools
Knowledge of database structures and database querying tools
Proficiency in Excel, and knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications
Use story-telling skills to develop and deliver insights that are clear, concise, and relevant
Support projects from concept through implementation
Exude passion about our mission and strategy
