Tax Associate - Indirect Tax - Remote

Responsibilities
Perform corporate indirect tax function for parent company and subsidiaries. Includes the preparation, filing, and payment of sales & use tax returns, property tax returns, Secretary of State reporting, business licensing, census reports, and other related support.
Manage sales tax software system proficiently. Includes the setup and maintenance of companies, clients, exemption certificates, tax jurisdictions, reporting and analysis, scenario modeling, and the handling of technical support cases.
Research and determine the correct taxability of products/services to ensure correct sales tax coding.
Perform tax research relating to indirect tax compliance and be able to identify complex tax issues and resolve them independently.
Maintain a tax calendar and follow various project timelines proactively and with minimum supervision.
Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and preparation and posting of monthly journal entries relating to tax transactions.
Ability to multi-task and communicate tax matters with intracompany departments, clients, and other stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned and assist with tax audits and notices.

Required
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required.
Three years of experience with multi-state sales tax compliance required.
Intermediate to advanced level experience with sales tax software required.
Must have experience monitoring, researching, documenting, and applying changes in tax laws and rates to the sales tax process.
Must have experience determining the taxability rules for various products and services as differs state to state.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex tax information with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications and the ability to give presentations.
Intermediate to advanced level Excel experience required.
Ability to balance multiple projects and work in fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
Ability to develop, initiate, and complete detailed projects.
Must be motivated and a self-starter.
Preferred
Experience with tax research software preferred.
