Responsibilities

Review the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for P&C insurance entities.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax documents.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and records to support tax filings and audits.
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax provisions and disclosures in financial statements.
Collaborate with the outside tax service provider to regularly review tax provision files and return filings.
Review quarterly and annual tax provisions and related footnote disclosures under GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities and support business objectives.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations affecting P&C insurance companies and assess their impact on the company.
Provide tax advisory services to internal stakeholders, including recommendations for tax-efficient structures and transactions.
Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Prepare and present responses to audit findings and negotiate settlements as necessary.
Ensure all tax positions are well-documented and substantiated.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.
Utilize tax technology and software to streamline tax processes and improve data management.
Work closely with underwriting, claims, finance, and legal departments to understand business operations and ensure tax compliance.
Participate in strategic projects and initiatives, providing tax insights and support.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification required.
5-7 years of tax experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on P&C insurance companies.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations applicable to insurance companies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in tax software and financial reporting tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Strategic thinker with the ability to provide innovative tax solutions.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Preferred

Advanced degree in Taxation or Law.
