Traffic Design Engineer

Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks in the traffic engineering field through application of relevant design criteria, standards, and processes
Prepare traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting, and ITS design plans
Prepare maintenance of traffic (MOT), transportation management plans (TMP), and detour plans for design projects
Develop construction cost estimates and specifications
Perform traffic safety and traffic analysis studies based on the Highway Capacity Manual
Perform traffic analysis using software such as Synchro and VISSIM
Conduct multimodal studies including pedestrian and bicycle studies
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan project
Perform field reviews of traffic operations
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
2 – 6 years’ experience
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Written and oral communication skills
Preferred
Engineer-in-training certification
Related experience
Experience in Microstation and/or AutoCAD
Experience working with local clients in the DC metropolitan area
