Responsibilities

Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans

Prepare Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design

Perform data collection

Perform traffic impact analyses

Prepare traffic and safety studies

Perform traffic analyses

Perform transportation planning studies

Prepare quantity and cost estimates

Prepare written reports

B.S.C.E. degree required

E.I.T. certification required; P.E. preferred

Familiarity with standard references such as the AASHTO Green Book, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Safety Manual and the Highway Capacity Manual

Familiarity with TxDOT design standards and guidelines

Computer skills including training in CADD (MICROSTATION, OPEN ROADS, GEOPAK), HCS, SYNCHRO/SIM-TRAFFIC, Vistro, VISSIM, SIDRA, AGi32, Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCEL

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in a design related field

Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position
