Responsibilities
The Transmission Engineer position holds the responsibility for the safe, reliable, and economic round-the-clock operation of the electric transmission system.
Duties include engineering responsibilities for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation activities of electric transmission lines, producing design packages for electric transmission capital projects, generating project estimates & schedules, participating in root cause analyses, studying encroachment cases, developing & managing contracts, making site visits to monitor construction activities, and other engineering activities.
Plans, designs, and oversees construction of electric transmission lines.
Analyzes existing transmission lines for upgrades and additions.
Researches new technologies, methods, and equipment.
Drafts, approves, and issues drawings, material lists, manuals, and schedules for construction.
Coordinates, schedules, and plans transmission project activities and provides technical support.
Specifies, requisitions, and approves material for transmission projects.
Develops design processes and procedures, project budget estimates, and monthly spending projections.
Writes construction contracts, estimates quantities and costs, uses SAP for project monitoring, participates in routing & siting projects, supports civic projects, reviews encroachment requests, and performs other assigned duties.

Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years experience in PLS CADD
Preferred
Master's Degree
Oral and Written Communications
Personal Computer Usage
Project Management
Certifications in Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas
Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in this field to complete duties and assignments.
Demonstrated mastery of engineering discipline skills Ability to lead cross-functional business initiatives and teams
Demonstrated ability to effectively handle a broad range of engineering assignments with minimum supervision
Ability to lead cross-functional teams on internal projects
Demonstrated ability to manage project costs, timeline, scope, and risks
Ability to effectively check work product for adequacy, quality, and accuracy
Effective communication skills focused on understanding customer needs and developing resolution
Good people skills, with a bias for a collaborative working style
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling
