Responsibilities

Establish and maintain a hospital-based cancer registry that meets or exceeds standards set by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer
Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for cancer patients
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to gather necessary information for the registry
Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding cancer data
Participate in quality assurance activities related to the cancer registry

Required

Associate's degree or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
One or more years of cancer registry experience required
Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
Knowledge of the International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-0) coding system
Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) or eligibility for certification

Preferred

Experience working with cancer registry software or databases
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
