Responsibilities
Analyze prospective claims to determine if disorders or injuries were incurred during or aggravated by military service in the line of duty for purposes of obtaining compensation through the VA
Provide guidance regarding service-connection, permanent and total disability, entitlement to compensation, and other ancillary benefits
Ensure proper application of the Rating Schedule by internal staff to better assist Veteran clients
Communicate and interact with Veterans as appropriate to resolve any discrepancies/inconsistencies
Train staff on reviewing claims, applying the Rating Schedule, interpreting the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR), and other relevant topics
Perform peer reviews of DBQs to ensure compliance with VA standards and to maintain ethical medical and business practices
Participate in meetings, assist with training, and collaborate to develop policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and best practices
Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Quality, Senior Manager of Quality, and members of VBG leadership.

Required
Must have recent experience as a Veterans Service Representative (VSR), VSR (Rating), VSR (Authorizer), VSR (Authorization Quality Review Specialist), or equivalent.
Must have at least 1 year of experience reviewing DBQs.
Proficiency in claims-oriented medical terminology
Knowledgeable regarding the VA Manual (M-21)
Literacy in Microsoft applications, including, but not limited to, Excel and Word
Understand the principles of quality and risk management
Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement, or Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), methodologies
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
Military experience
Two years of experience reviewing DBQs
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
