Responsibilities

Directs all areas of Human Resources including recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, training, succession planning and talent management, employee relations, EEO and affirmative action, and statutory and legal compliance with employment and benefits law.
Works with organizational leadership to create and implement strategies that support the objectives of the organization.
Evaluates and implements creative technology solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of HR functions, including performance management/work planning tools, applicant/talent tracking systems, and employee/manager self service portals.
Acts as a primary change agent and trusted business partner to the organization’s senior leaders.
Oversees and updates the organization’s performance management program to help ensure that organizational goals are achieved through enhanced staff performance, motivation, accountability and commitment to the National Trust’s mission and values.
Helps create a clear path for skill development, with clear and consistent position criteria for staff at all levels.
Implements successful professional development programs and looks for opportunities to develop individuals within the organization to handle greater responsibilities, including identifying and rewarding high performing staff.
In conjunction with the Leadership Team, helps to define organizational values, employee value proposition, guiding principles for benefits decisions and a culture focused on delivering results and fostering an empowered workforce.
Applies critical thinking to help identify systemic barriers to organizational success and inspire solutions.
Ensures an effective approach to employee relations including staff communication, transparency at all levels, employee engagement, conflict resolution, recognition programs and employee feedback programs.
Ensures that diversity is a core value and strategy in all Human Resources functions, as well as throughout the organization.
Maintains credibility with senior management and staff as someone who is a strong and collaborative leader and an expert in the HR function.
Ensures compliance with labor laws, including OSHA, ADA, HIPPA, FMLA and EEOC.

Required

Minimum 20 years professional experience executing successful non-profit organizational-development strategies and tactics.
At least 12 years of experience leading large cross-departmental projects and teams, preferably in a nationally distributed organization.
HR experience in numerous functional areas with recent experience in, staffing/recruiting, benefits management, training and development, employee relations and organizational design/development.
Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships at all levels.
Ability to maintain the highest levels of discretion and credibility.
Understanding of human resource policies, practices and compliance (federal, state and local regulations).
Business acumen and analytic ability.
Knowledge of organizational effectiveness strategies, leadership development, assessment methodologies, change management and performance management solutions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic human resources leadership across the organization.
Experience in evaluating, managing and using technology programs.
Demonstrated computer proficiency including experience using MS Office applications and HR Information/Management Systems.
Excellent consulting and diagnostic skills, with ability to foresee and plan around obstacles to produce desired outcomes.
Advanced analytical, problem solving (issue identification and prioritization) skills are essential for this role.
Ability to collect and evaluate data, exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
Advanced project management, department-management and client-management skills.
Self motivated and dependability essential, as well as having a strong sense of urgency and being results-orientated.
Demonstrated experience successfully managing key internal and external, culturally diverse stakeholders and relationships.
Proven ability to train, motivate and manage staff in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate plans and outcomes at all levels of the organization.
Ability to communicate with staff at remote locations essential.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently, delegate and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion.
Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
Master’s degree or equivalent experience required.
