Responsibilities

Define and execute a comprehensive global business development strategy for photonics solutions for the industrial platform.
Identify high-potential markets and emerging opportunities in sectors such as automotive, life sciences, semiconductor and consumer electronics.
Establish thought leadership and lead strategic initiatives to penetrate new markets, expand existing customer relationships, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
Define and oversee global marketing strategies to position Lumentum as a leader in the photonics industry.
Collaborate with CTO, Product Line Management and Product Marketing to align marketing campaigns with product roadmaps and market demand.
Establish thought leadership through industry events, white papers, and targeted campaigns to enhance brand visibility and market influence.
Leverage market data and analytics to refine go-to-market strategies and marketing investments.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key industry players, customers, and suppliers.
Negotiate and structure agreements to maximize value for all stakeholders.
Establish Lumentum presence and thought leadership at marquee industry conferences and events to strengthen market presence and develop new business opportunities.
Serve as the executive sponsor for key accounts, ensuring alignment with customer needs and expectations.
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop tailored solutions that address complex customer challenges.
Actively engage with customers to gather insights, refine strategies, and solidify long-term partnerships.
Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
Provide actionable insights to inform product development, marketing, and sales strategies.
Drive thought leadership in the photonics industry through white papers, presentations, and public engagements.
Collaborate with CTO to provide market intelligence on investment and industry trends to enable a more focused marketing effort to shape platform strategy and roadmap.
Ownership of product life cycle from concept to production launch to end-of-life.
Collaboration and ownership of engineering Gate reviews working with the program manager.
Work closely with executive leadership team to align business development efforts with corporate objectives.
Collaborate with CTO, engineering, operations, and product management teams to ensure market needs are translated into technical solutions.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer focus across the organization.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
15+ years in business development, strategic sales, or a related leadership role within the photonics or high-tech hardware sector
Proven success driving growth in international markets and managing cross-cultural business relationships
Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills
Strategic thinking with the ability to execute in fast-paced, competitive environments
Strong analytical abilities and proficiency with CRM and data analysis tools
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including executive-level storytelling
Visionary and results-oriented with a customer-focused mindset
Entrepreneurial, proactive, and adaptable to change
Willingness to travel internationally (30–40%)
Deep understanding of photonics technologies and their applications across key markets such as telecommunications, semiconductors, and industrial manufacturing
