VP of Development (CS&DG)

Responsibilities
Developing CS development strategy and managing development of many sites.
Assessing renewable energy landscape as it pertains to CS to formulate criteria and data-driven strategy to support new market entry.
Presenting to CEO and management team for approval.
Monitoring progress and landscape of key markets and presenting business cases relating to shifts in CS strategy to CEO and management team in a timely manner.
Work with the development team to ensure effective and timely site handover of projects from Site Acquisition to Development team.
Lead the CS development team along with cross-functional team of engineers, developers, agents and external contractors to identify and develop community solar projects.
Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from site identification and acquisition to NTP.
Secure interconnection agreements, permits, and approvals from local authorities and regulatory bodies.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, local government officials, and utility companies.
Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and legal, to support project development.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.
Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and events.
Overall responsibility and accountability for tracking and reporting of the CS development team success.
Promote a culture of data tracking within the team and throughout the company.
Provide management team with tracking and reporting of key CS development progression data points.
Continually assess data, to ensure BW Solar and the team are operating efficiently based on analysis information gathered.
Continually monitoring composition of CS development portfolio to ensure it adheres to corporate goals.
Tracking of CS development costs to budget and schedule on a [monthly] basis.
Stay abreast of industry trends and movements on a macro and micro level, collect datapoints and form thoughtful opinions on goals, strategy, challenges and opportunities for BW Solar in the context of renewable energy in North America.
Continuously evaluate BW Solar’s position in the renewable energy market and bring forth ideas and concepts to increase our presence and augment our relevance in the industry.
Work with CEO and management team to formulate optimal portfolio mix in terms of markets, project types, projects sizes, and project maturity.
Work with CEO and management team to create CS Development and Corporate budgets.
Providing CEO with requested support material with high degree of thoughtfulness and organization.
Create and/or provide input and review of board materials.
Be a champion of BW Solar values by compliance and promoting throughout the Site Acquisition team and company as a whole.

Required
Bachelor’s degree, Masters’s degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 12+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on community solar and distributed generation.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex community solar/ distributed generation projects and securing necessary permits and approvals.
Strong understanding of interconnection processes, regulatory requirements, and permitting procedures.
Proven management skills and experience. Demonstrated ability in mentoring and supporting diverse teams and managing the development of community solar/distributed generation projects.
Siting and real estate acquisition experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Drive and passion to succeed in a small fast-paced business.
Experience working with local government officials and regulatory bodies.
Familiarity with financial modeling and project financing.
Exceptional communication, and conflict/issue resolution skills, with the ability to proactively identify and strategically work to resolve challenging situations with confidence.
Highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Strong work ethic and high integrity. Drive and passion to succeed in a small fast-paced business.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion and have the confidence to ask questions to ensure clear and strategic action.

Flexibility for a remote/hybrid location. The successful candidate will be expected to align their working hours Eastern times zones.
Ability to travel within the United States and Canada. Travel required may be up to 20%.
As required by a project’s lifecycle and operational requirements, ability to work extended hours.
Valid driver’s license and Passport.
Work is generally carried out in a home office environment, in an office environment, at remote project development sites, operating facilities, and outdoors (with exposure to various weather conditions).
Successful candidate must pass a Criminal Background Check.
