Responsibilities

Review and evaluate process performance of the water treatment process for optimization and improvements.
Stay updated on new water treatment chemicals, technologies, and equipment.
Plan and direct research activities to enhance water treatment efficiency and compliance.
Develop pilot studies, coordinate implementation of research results, and work with consulting engineers.
Lead research projects sponsored by various organizations.
Assist in compliance reporting, troubleshoot plant treatment issues, and develop operational procedures.
Participate in public education and employee development programs related to water quality.
Review and analyze water quality studies and reports, and comply with drinking water regulations.
Represent CCMWA on water quality issues to regional and national programs.
Prepare annual budget requests, control expenditures, and submit recommendations for capital improvements.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or other closely related fields, supplemented with extensive water treatment knowledge and experience.
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a water professional. Master’s degree can substitute for 3 years of working experience.
Georgia Driver’s License with a good driving history; a good driving record must be maintained to continue employment with the Authority.
Extensive knowledge of drinking water treatment parameters, process chemistry, regulatory and compliance requirements, hydraulics and transmission (distribution) system.
Knowledge of water treatment equipment, cost/benefit analysis and critical plant asset management.
Ability to analyze lab and operational data, present findings and provide recommended operational changes to meet regulatory requirements and goals.
Strong computer skills, capability to learn and use Excel VBA coding or other analysis software.
Proven ability to prepare technical reports on study results, review proposals and reports.
Maintains effective working relationships with Authority employees, vendors, and others encountered in the professional environment.
Experience leading and conducting water quality studies and analysis
Ability to provide leadership to water quality technicians and professionals in order to achieve established goals of department; analyze problems and instruct employees in analytical methods and testing procedures; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees, the general public, and federal, state and CCMWA customers/stakeholders.
