Responsibilities

Coordinate and lead groups of watershed stakeholders to work on projects for water quality improvement.
Provide technical and programmatic support for Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy projects.
Manage Total Maximum Daily Load studies and Clean Water Act Section 319 projects.
Develop projects to protect and restore water quality in the Lower Mississippi and Cedar River basins.
Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and develop projects in compliance with water quality standards.
Utilize knowledge of watershed management principles and practices in project delivery.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Hydrology, Natural Resources, Limnology, Chemistry, Water Resources, or other similar ecological or environmental sciences
Two years of advanced professional-level environmental protection or pollution control experience with working knowledge of water resource concerns, hydrology, and water pollution control science and technology
Ability to coordinate and lead groups of watershed stakeholders with diverse memberships and conflicting priorities
Good communication, interpersonal, collaboration, planning/organization skills
Advanced technical and administrative writing skills
Advanced knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
Possession of a valid Driver’s license
Experience and knowledge of contracting and grants/loans policies and procedures, and budgeting
Project management experience especially in watershed management projects
Proficient in Graphic Information System (GIS) software manipulation and editing
Familiarity with water quality models and their application in watershed management

Preferred

Working knowledge of watershed management principles, limnology, hydrology, stream ecology, and contaminant transport principles, particularly in Southeast Minnesota
Demonstrated ability to independently complete projects and deliverables related to water quality restoration and protection
Knowledge of water quality standards and designated uses
Experience or knowledge related to Tribal – State Relations
Experience and training related to Tribal – State Relations
