Responsibilities

Identifying captivating true crime cases based on breaking news, trials, and never-before-heard cases and pitching these to internal stakeholders for approval
Identifying and booking interviews with key players, family members, and reporters
Hiring local videographers for interviews
Writing creative and enticing scripts using a combination of real archive, interviews, and narration
Enforcing Law&Crime’s legal and editorial guidelines in your scripts
Reviewing interrogation and police bodycam footage to identify key moments
Coordinating script approval with respective manager
Working closely with the assigned editor to help identify still images/archival footage for coverage
Reviewing and noting cuts with constructive feedback and a meticulous eye for on-screen captions
Compiling deliverables, attending staff meetings, and keeping case files and databases organized and up to date
Other tasks as assigned

Required

Experience producing scripted video content; true-crime experience is a plus.
Strong writing creativity and independence.
Ability to condense hours of footage and interviews into a compelling story.
4 years of professional work experience in related fields.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to take initiative and act independently and proactively.

Preferred

Knowledge of best scriptwriting practices for digital platforms.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preferred area of study Communication, Film, Journalism, Production, or related field.
Experience and an ability to communicate and work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
